A creative team for the upcoming Lionsgate adaptation of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has come to light. Roberto Orci will serve as executive producer. Orci previously penned and executive produced The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Star Trek, and Star Trek: Into Darkness. With these credits alone, Orci has clear experience with the superhero genre as well as retooling familiar properties for a 2010s film audience.
Orci will be joined by X-Men: First Class and Thor writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who will serve as writers for the project. There is a clear Marvel influence present with the creative team, which is unsurprising considering the closer relationship between Marvel Comics and Toei (as well as Stan Lee’s historical efforts to bring Super Sentai to the United States, prior to Haim Saban’s success with the Power Rangers franchise).
Haim Saban will also produce the film alongside Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur.
