On Friday, May 22, 2015, Lionsgate executives shared some insight into their upcoming film projects, including the upcoming Power Rangers adaptations. Despite the film’s release date being pushed back to January 2017, the executives seemed optimistic.

“We’re very excited and with Dean’s [Israelite] vision; we felt very comfortable looking for opportunistic dating. We really believe that great movies deliver no matter what date they’re on.”

The executives then stated the potential of Power Rangers as a “significant series of movies.”

Dean Israelite serves as the film’s director, with Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz writing the piece, and Saban Brands’ Haim Saban and Brian Casentini remain in their producer roles, as do Lionsgate’s Alison Shearmur. Power Rangers will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
