Dacre Montgomery has been cast as the Red Ranger in the upcoming Lionsgate Power Rangers film. The relative newcomer’s past roles include the award-winning Australian short film “BETRAND THE TERRIBLE,” which is available on YouTube.

He joins the previously-announced Naomi Scott (playing the Pink Ranger), who is known for her roles on Terra Nova and The Martian.

The Power Rangers film is due to hit theaters on January 13, 2017. Dean Israelite serves as the film’s director, with Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz serving as writers, and Saban Brands’ Haim Saban and Brian Casentini, and Lionsgate’s Alison Shearmur serve as executive producers.
