This talk of Kouta killing Kurokages and heroism reminds me of the manga one-shot Skull-Man by Ishinomori, who guns down security guards and kills anyone who gets in his pursuit of vengeance and justice against corruption and decadence.

… Except that Skull-Man was supposed to be an extreme anti-hero and horrible person who was unquestionably in the wrong.

Wow. I have a lot to say on this subject. That is a good call on your part. It really is sad isn’t it? Would you advise that little ones read Skull-Man?

Totally. Its a good short-story, plus a good contrast for the heroism Kamen Rider represents.

You guys bring up some good points but I disagree with a lot of it. Mostly that I think your a little too harsh on it.

It’s funny because I was kind of “eh” on the show at the beginning and around episode 10 really came around on it. The story I feel is well paced and the characters well defined. There are some weakness of course but I think you guys make it sound much worse than it is.

What do you mean by “well-paced”?

As for making it sound worse than it is, this is genuinely how bad I – at least – think Gaim is. How much worse can a kids’ show get than the protagonist killing his own friend, immediately forgetting about it and going on a gun-toting spree? Maybe we’re coming from very different backgrounds, but it really sits wrong with me in this context. It’s terrible writing and an even worse message.

It’s all relative, of course. There’s obviously gonna be some series at the bottom of the pile, and for me Gaim’s one of them thus far. When we cover Agito and Kabuto, which I love, let me know if I’m being too nice about them.

What was it that made you so unsure about those first few episodes? What turned your opinion to one more favorable around the 10th episode? Did new characters emerge, did someone change? Do you like the message of the show? What do you think it is? Who is your favorite character? Why?

I am fascinated to know what you think about this show as it seems we have different thoughts on it.
